School Sport at Ngunnawal
Students at Ngunnawal get the opportunity to experience a variety of different sports through a range of activities and games.
Sports include: Buroinjin/Indigenous Games, Football – Oztag, Touch, AFL, Soccer, Tennis, Badminton, Volleyball, Cricket, Basketball, Netball, Hockey, Teeball, Golf, Lawn Bowls, Tenpin
Each year we have 3 carnivals – swimming, cross country and athletics. Students who qualify have the opportunity to represent our school at the North Gungahlin regional and ACT carnivals.
School Sports ACT
Students can register with School Sports ACT to trial for a variety of different sports during the year. Students that are successful in being selected can have the opportunity to represent the ACT at locations around Australia. Sporting Schools Funding
Through the Federal Governments Sporting Schools initiative, grants are made available to schools in help students to increase their participation in a variety of sports. Sports available are on their website https://www.sportaus.gov.au/schools
Sporting Gala Days
During the year, numerous sporting bodies run gala days for schools to participate in. Recently Ngunnawal sent teams to Rugby League, Basketball, Oztag, Soccer, Tennis and Cricket.
Sports Houses
Students at Ngunnawal are assigned to one of four sports houses. These are used throughout the year for swimming, cross country and athletics carnivals, plus other events. The houses at Ngunnawal are:
Bradman (White)
Freeman (Red)
Coombs (Blue)
Jackson (Green)
